For 2 hours they worked on Joce's solo part, trying different vocal dramatics. They finally all agreed that 1st take that she had sang initially was the best, it sounded innocent and raw with a low key of sultriness intwined. Nick explained that the reason that Alex was doing what originally was Brian's vocal part of the song was because they wanted it a lil more edge to the song, and Alex had the voice for it with Nick's voice singing behind it. That is why Joce's voice worked so well, it flowed well because it was raw like his but still had the feminine softness to it.

     Alex hated to admit it, but she did have an very unique voice. Whenever she would sing he could close his eyes, and feel as if the whole world dissapeared. Now if only it could, and everything with it be forgotten. But after he had made the jackassed comment of, "Let's see if we can even use it." Joce had pretty much spent her whole time talking with Max or goofing around with Nick. And Alex pretty much just blew her off the whole time, rarely ever saying anything nice. At the moment Nick was in the booth with her messing around and making up lyrics for fun, since Max wanted them to all take a break and have fun for a lil while. Max always did believe that people came up with their best ideas when they weren't under pressure.

     Alex pretty much wanted to kick Nick and Max out of the studio so he could have Jocelynn cornered, so he could appologize to her. He turned around in his chair toward Max, "Hey Max, I am going to go downstairs to the smoking rooms for a lil while, just call me on my cell when you need me up here."

     Looking at his wayward friend, "Yea man. No problem." And watch Alex leave the room. He looked back at the booth were Nick was doing a lil dance with Joce, but he noticed that Joce's eyes were locked on way Alex walked. She took off her headphones and told Nick she would be right back, and asked if he wanted something to drink. Nick asked for a Coke, Joce then left the booth.

     "Max, I am going to have a quick ciggerette, and grab Nick and I some coke's. You want anything?"

     "Naw, I am good for now. I'll send Nick down for you when we start up again." Joce nodded, grabbed her purse and left room.

     Walking down the end of the all she opened the door to the rec room and walked right past Alex who was laying on the couch sucking on his ciggerette. She went to the fridge and grabbed 2 cokes out, then set her purse and one of them on the table next to her. Turning around she open her bottle and took a quick swig and looked at Alex dead on. He had been watching her the whole time but looked away immediately. She took in a deep breath, "So do you want to do this the easy way or the bitch way?"

     "I don't have any idea what you are talking about, Joce."

     "Cut the shit McLean, right now I am still hungover from drinking last night after your little episode. So if you really want to do this the bitch way, you are fair warned that I will chew that narrow ass of yours to shreads. So do you want to start explaining yourself? Because I haven't done a damn thing to you today to deserve to be getting treated like this. And if I did you better tell me so I can at least take credit for it!"

     Alex quickly stood up, his anger started to send his blood racing, "It's not about what you did today! It's about what you fuckin' did yesterday!" He yelled back. "You go from me to Nick within 5 minutes! After I came back inside after our lil, whatever it was, I find you and Nick in the girls bathroom in eachother's arms and him kissing you on the forehead!" He walked up to her

     "Excatly! HE KISSED ME ON THE FOREHEAD! He asked for a hug to apologize so we could be FRIENDS! You pompous jack-ass, if you would have let me or Nick get a fucking word in during your temper tantrum you would have heard so!"

     "OH yea, it was just a hug my ass! I saw you this morning leaving his room wearing his sweater. If that is what friends fucking do then I want in."

     Jocelynn lift her hand but put it back down, "Is that what you think, that Nick and I slept together?"

     "Ah, yea, if a gorgeous woman leaves a hotel room at 7 in the morning wearing a man's article of clothing, yeah I would say that there was more then talking going on, that's for damn sure. Plus I've seen how you two are all over eachother today. you might as well just have sex in the fuckin' booth!"

     Joce grabbed her purse and the other coke, "Oh fuck you, Alexander." She headed to the door, right before she grabbed the handle it opened up. Nick stood there and looked at her face, He could see the anger in her eyes, he looked past her at Alex, who's fits were doubled at his sides.

     Nick put his finger and thum on her chin to bring her face to look at his, "Jocie? Is everything okay, babe?"

     "Yea," She nodded, "Lets get back to the session, okay?" She walked past him and back down the hall.

     Nick quickly looked after her, but instead he walked into the rec room and closed the door. Glaring at Alex he taking long strides across the room to meet him face to face. He glared down his best friend, "What the fuck did you say this time?!" He demanded.

     Alex looked up at Nick, "If you want to know so badly why don't you ask her. I'm sure she would welcome more then a 'hug' right now from you." he said as he did the finger quotes when he said the word, hug. Nick just spun around and hurried up to the session, he needed to know what was said, and he needed to be there for her.

     Alex stood there alone, he spun around and punched the fridge, he was so pissed off he didn't even flinch in pain. Once again he had let his mouth run off before he could process what was going on. Jocelynn had said that it was only a hug, but his pride wouldn't let him listen to her. He watched as her eyes turn colors right in front of him, the more angery she got the greener her eyes tured untill the looked like they would glow. But behind them he saw more then that, he could see and feel the pain that he caused her. Guilt sucked, period. And now his soul was riddled with it, now that he knew that if she did end up with Nick or if she already had, it was his fault for pushing her. The hardest thing for him right now was not knowing weither or not Nick and Jocelynn had slept together.

     Jocelynn and Nick were sitting on the couch together, listening to the lyrics that they had made up earlier, when Alex walked back into the session. Alex took a set on the chair and spun it around to face them. "What is this?" He asked quietly.

    Raising an eyebrow to Alex she compemplated ignoring him, but for some reason his words flowed through her body, and she felt the remourse in his voice. She so desperately wanted to believe that was the case. "It's just a stupid saying that I thought of this mornin'. I thought it would sound kewl as a tight hook." She answered as the lil riff played, ~~For all the reasons that I shouldn't, I look at you and find all the reasons that I should.~~

    "It's really good,"Max said "Well how about we get that bridge part down with you and Alex." Alex and Joce stood up and walked into the booth, it was painfully obvious to him that Joce was doing her best keep her body from touching his. Before the light came on to signal them that the tape was recording Alex whispered to Joce, "Can we talk later? I really need to talk to you, and appologize."

    Joce nodded, "Yeah, but I already have plans to go shopping with Nick. How about when we get back I will meet you and we can talk"? She whispered back quietly, he nodded.

     Alex relaxed a bit, hopeing that there was still a chance for him to patch things up with her before anything more happened between her and Nick. The light blinked, and the music of the 2nd chorus began to play. They sang together powerfully, thier voices contrasted and blended together while they sang. Nick and Max sat at the mix board listening to the music surrounding the room. They then worked on the bridge, Alex sang, "It's an illlusion" then they both finished the line, then Joce would sing and they would again finish it together. Nick listened to her and Alex sing and felt this haunting feeling from the blend of their voices and knew that this song was going to be huge.

     After they finished singing, Max hit the speaker, "I hate to say this but it doesn't get much better then that. This song is offically a wrap. I will just put it all together and what not later. You can listen to the finish copy with the rest of the group tonight after dinner. You fellas are free to go."

     Joce beamed as she walked out of the booth, Nick scooped her up into a hug, "Girl, that was incredible! I am so proud of you! I am going to buy you somethign HUGE."

     "Nick you don't have to buy me anything. Plus I still have to finish up work, I am still on the clock."

     "Actually considering all the work you did today Joce, you are can take the rest of the day, no the rest of the week off, fully paid. Consider it an early birthday gift."Max said standing up to give her a hug.

     "Thanks Max." She said as she picked up her purse and the sweater of Nick's. "I will see you tonight then."

     The three of them walked out of the building together, Nick kept his arm over Joce's shoulder and kept her away from Alex. The two talked about song that they made up during goof off time, and about dinking around with the lyrics later. Joce told him that she had something to take care of after dinner alone. Alex almost snickered, when Nick asked if she needed him with her.

     "Nick, but thank you for offering. I am a big girl and can take care of this myself." she answered looking at Alex through the corner of her eye. Nick and Jocelynn left in her car to go shopping as Alex took the rented Escalade back to the hotel to figure out exactly what he was going to say and do when he and Joce would get together later.
