Beautiful Woman - Ch. 1

"Mama? What makes planes fly?" Drogyn asked as he pulled his little rolling suitcase out of his room and took it to over to the front door of their apartment.

"That's a good question, Dre. You should ask the people at the airport that when we get there. I am sure that someone knows."

"Mama, It's DDrrooggyynnn. Not Dre." the little child stressed while putting his hands on his hips. "Why does Buddy have to stay here?"

"Because we are going to be on a tour bus, and it's not big enough for Buddy to roam in. He will be fine staying with Aunt Trish and Uncle Blake, I promise."

"Where are we going to?" Drogyn asked as he tried to pick up the huge cat, that could double as a small dog. "And what is a tour bus?"

Jocelynn pulled her rolling suitcase and a large duffel bag to the front door, turning around she looked at her son. Ever since she came home from California he had been asking 120 questions all day long, "A tour bus is a really big bus, that has beds, TV, radio, and a bathroom on it. It's like a mini home on wheels, just not as roomie as a home. What's with all the questions today?"She asked handing him his blue jean jacket.

"Is Auntie C and Brennon are on the bus with us?" He asked, pulling on his coat.

"No, they are going on a different bus with one of our friends. But don't worry you and Brennon will have lots of fun together." Jocelynn reassured him as she put on her sunglasses. As she went to grab her purse off the kitchen table there was a knock at the door, "Now who can that be?" She asked out loud as she headed to the door, Drogyn was looking out the window.

"There is a really big car out there," He said.

Opening the door Jocelynn came face to face with a very tall man in a driver's suit. "Are you Miss Edwards?" he asked.

"Yes, I am may I help you?"

"I was sent to drive you and Miss Merimeck to the airport in Salt Lake." told her, "Are these your bags?" He asked motioning to the 3 bags that where on the floor in front of him, Jocelynn nodded and the gentleman bent down, grabbed the bags and headed out of the building. Jocelynn looked out of her window, next to her son and saw a van sitting out in the parking lot.

"Are we going in there?" Drogyn asked as he turned to Joce. "Why do we have to go away?"

"Who put the quarter in you?" Jocelynn asked her cell phone started to vibrate. She picked it up after seeing the caller id, "If you are calling to whine about how much you miss him, I will leave your butt here."She said into the phone.

"I can't help it. Plus I was calling to see if you guys were on your way yet," China said.

"Yeah, actually, looks like the guys send a van to come get us and take us down to the airport," Joce said as she and Drogyn grabbed his little backpack and her purse to head out the door of the apartment.

"Oh really?! Did Nick come?! Do you think that they will meet us at the airport?"

"Chi, I will give you 100 bucks to not say his name until we get out to LA. Please. For the past 2 weeks since we left you have not shut up once about him. Can we just make the 3 hour drive and the 2 hour plane flight there with out you mentioning his name." Jocelynn begged as she loaded up her son's boaster seat into the van and put him in it.

"Who is Nick, do you mean Uncle Kolas? He doesn't like being called Nick. He says that is it a sissy name?"

"Hold on China," Joce said into the phone, laying it on the seat and then looked at her son while she buckled him in, "Oh really now. Well Uncle Kolas's real name is Nickolas so he shouldn't talk. And it's not him, Nick is a friend of mommy's and aunt China who we are going to visit. Now here read your book," She told him then picked back her phone up, "Now what were you babbling about?" She asked as she climbed into the van herself.

"I wasn't babbling. I just said that if I can't talk about HIM then you need to tell me what is going on with you and Alex?" China countered.

"So do you think just Nick is going to meet at the airport or the whole crew like last time?" Joce asked trying to change the topic. She really wasn't fully ready to discuss the situation with Alex with China, much less anyone else. She wouldn't even talk to Kevin about it when he would ask on the phone. In her mind it was better for her not to think about it so much, it would only put her nerves on edge and make her anxiety levels go up which made him --

'Are you okay"' His worried voice swam into her head.

'I am fine, just talking to China.' She thought to him.

'So did the van come pick you up?'

'Ah so you were behind that?'

His laugh filled her head making her smile, 'Yeah, Nick wanted to fly out to get you guys, but Kevin and I managed to talk him out of that idea.'

'Well I will see you in a while. I got to go,' Joce thought.

'Okay, see you when you get here. I love you.'

'I know, I love you too...'

"HEY JOCE ARE YOU THERE?!" China yelled on the cellphone. "Don't you dare change the topic. You haven't said one word about him since we left."

"Oh shut it, China. Just get your crap outside with Brennon, we will be there in 5 minutes." She said and quickly shut the phone.

"Hey Mama, your song is on the radio." Drogyn said.

Nick slumped on the floor up against the wall in the dance studio. Looking at his watch he saw that it was a little after 10am. Right now China, Joce and the kids should just now boarding their flight. He had wanted to be there with them, but Kevin and the rest of the guys had pretty much ordered him to stay. They still had 4 days left before the opening date of the tour. Tomorrow they would be boarding the buses to head out to Dallas where the 2nd leg of the tour was going to kick off. The guys had kicked off their first leg of their world tour in Europe after their album 'Never Gone' was released and their mini US tour had turned into a hug success. That went from the Nov. of 2005 till the end of Feb. 2006. Then they came home to relax for 2 months in order to record the new single duet, and make the video and do the US promotion stuff.

Then 2 days after they girls had left to go back to Wyoming, the new single dropped in the airwaves and became an instant smash. And quickly became a request favorite all over the US, with people always asking who the female artist in the song was. In the agreement with her record agency the single was released under the name: 'Climbing the Walls' by the Backstreet Boys feat. Joce. But all that Nick could think about was starting of this tour with China by his side.

"Hey Nick, what's going on?" Brian asked as he sat down next to Nick.

"Nothin' just waiting. Thinking." he shrugged as he took a drink of his bottle of water.

"About China?" Brian asked knowing that he was right.

Nodding Nick let out a heavy sigh, "I am just nervous. I mean, it's not like before where it was just me and her. Now it's me, her and her son. I am just scared of fucking up."

"Hey man, I can't say I know what you mean, but China is a great girl. And when we met Brennon in May, you were great with him. Don't worry so much."

"Yeah I guess, I just don't want to ruin things. I know that Brennon isn't my kid and because of that I don't want to over step boundaries with him and her. I've never dated anyone with a child before."

"It'll be okay man." Brian reassured his friend. "You talk to AJ about this. He might be going through the same thing about Joce coming out with Drogyn, ya know?"

"Did I hear my name?" Alex asked as he made his way over to them. "What's wrong with him?" He asked to Brian as he laid down on the ground at their feet, putting his arms behind his head as he looked up at the ceiling.

"He's just nervous about China and Brennon coming out here. New territory." Brian explained.

"Well you would be too, Rok." Nick said slightly defensively as he crossed his arms over his knees and laid his head on them.

Alex turned his head and looked at Nick, "Hey, it's okay Nick. I know what you are feeling."

Looking over his arm and down at him Nick rested his chin on his arms, "Yeah but China and I are actually dating. You and Joce are still trying to figure out your heads from your asses."

     "Nick-" Brian warned.

"Sorry," Nick muttered, "It's just alot of pressure, the new tour, a new relationship and toss a 20 month old baby into it, makes me realize-"

"That you have to grow up..." Alex finished, the 2 men just nodded all understanding the pressure. The just sat there for a few moments in silence.

"Well come on we still have 1 hour left before we can get out of rehearsal. After that, you two get to try on the daddy suits and see how they fit." Brian joked standing back up and dusting off his shorts. "Come on, let's finish this up and get outta here."
